CHALLENGE:
Design a writer's workshop curriculum that would inspire students to write independently on topics they choose while supporting diverse voices, interests, and skill levels across grades 2–5.
SOLUTION:
Designed Jump Into Writing, a student-centered curriculum that celebrates choice, creativity, and authentic expression. The product experience supports daily independent writing across narrative, informational, and opinion genres while leveraging diverse mentor texts, peer sharing, and celebration opportunities to build confidence and strengthen writing skills.
Mood Board
The Personal Touch board provide inspirational opportunities for organization both written and physically. The dot journal concept was adopted as the perfect aesthetic for the program which encouraged students to engage with and personalize their notebooks as they learn about different genres.
Teacher Guides
Each writing genre has its own teacher guide. They can stand alone as separate modules and be taught in any order after starting with the launching unit.
Student Notebooks
Two different size student notebooks were designed for grade 2 and 3-5 with age appropriate sizes, write on lines, and activities. The covers were printed on uncoated stock with plenty of room to personalize. Inside, the black and white pages make it easy for students to add their own color and are full of whimsical illustrations that add another level of fun and engagement.
Packaging & Promotion
A universal packaging system streamlined production across grade levels, with stickers used to designate individual grades. The design also featured a billboard-style display component, allowing the package to serve as both product packaging and a sales tool at trade shows and live events.
The brand experience was further extended through a suite of promotional items, including canvas bags, journals, pencils, and sticky-note tabs.
